I have two news.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Firstly, I finally (yesterday) defended my master\u2019s thesis, which I am incredibly happy about. Hooray!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Secondly, I wanted to post all the translated rubai at once in the original writing and spelling, but for some reason it takes a terribly long time to rewrite them all. That's why I'll be alone. And, at the same time (at least in this post) I will explain some aspects of how the Central Tur writing works.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

She:<\/p>\r\n

    \r\n
  1. Consonantal (only consonants are recorded).<\/li>\r\n
  2. It is written from right to left.<\/li>\r\n
  3. Has a bunch of characters spelled the same way (w<\/strong> and n<\/strong>; y<\/strong>, d<\/strong> and g<\/strong>…)<\/li>\r\n
  4. Very archaic: uses old styles for phonemes that now sound different. For example, -t<\/strong>- between vowels voiced in -d<\/strong>-, but still continues to be written as -t<\/strong>-.<\/li>\r\n
  5. It was stolen from the Kharsei who lived nearby, and therefore many words are written down as so-called. \u201charseograms\u201d - a set of letters corresponding to the original word from Harse.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Now let's show with an example, looking at the first line:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    All words, except the second one, are written more or less phonetically (at least some matches can be found). The root of the second one looks terribly crazy: H\u1e94YTWN <\/em>Doesn't look like Stur at all w\u0113n<\/strong>. The answer why this is so is simple: in Harsean \u201cto see\u201d will be \u1e25\u0259z\u0101 <\/strong>(root \u1e25<\/strong>—z<\/strong>—y<\/strong>, and that\u2019s what we see in H\u1e94Y<\/em>; TWN <\/em>- some additional morpheme).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    And, finally, transliteration and transcription (for the third time, yes).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
